West Side Hangar Inspections

October 5th 9-12

Site N Hangar Waitlist

o Site N Hangar Waitlist is getting smaller.
o There will be a waitlist for the new hangars at Oceano.

West Side Restroom

A suggestion was made to add another porta-potty on the West Side just for women since the one that is there is pretty disgusting.

Cleared for Cheer

o December 12th 4-7 with a fantastic drone show.
o There will be a TFR around the airport when the light show is going on.
o A suggestion was made to use the apron for the staging area instead of the runway so that people could fly in to see the show.

Oceano Airport

o The Coastal Commission has approved the plan to re-build three hangars damaged in the storm and build two new hangars.
o Improvements will be made to the Pilot Lounge and repaving the parking lot.

Oceano Airport Campground Discussion

There was a spirited discussion of the removal of the fire pits and picnic tables at the campground. Supervisor Bruce Gibson was in attendance and gave some insight into the Commission’s reasoning. The airport staff didn’t address the replacement of the pits and tables because they were focused on getting the hangars built and parking lot resurfaced. They can address them at a later date. The fact that they wer there previously gets into the weeds of what the Commission considers maintenance. Trevor is going to check on what can be done and get back to us by the end of the month.

Accidents Closing the Runway

Runway 11/29 was closed for a couple of hours on Sunday September 13th. The delay was mostly due to defueling and getting permission from the NTSB. At least a couple of planes landed on Rwy 25 while the cleanup was underway. We don’t have too many accidents and incidents that close the runway; one a year that makes it into the NTSB database and probably another one or two that aren’t serious enough to get the NTSB involved.
